Carpet Cleaning FAQ

  • Is it worth getting my carpet professionally cleaned? Yes, you should clean carpet for health reasons first, and appearance second. Learn more reason why you should have your carpets professionally cleaned.
  • What is the best carpet cleaning method? There are several carpet cleaning methods to choose from. As an IICRC certified company, we believe Hot Water Extraction (steam cleaning), Low Moisture and our exclusive SaniVive® methods work best. Learn more about our carpet cleaning methods.
  • Do you charge by the room or square feet? We charge by average room size and not by square feet. This allows us to give you accurate pricing online or over the phone. Smaller or larger rooms or areas are prorated based on an average room size up of 200 s.f.
  • How much do you charge to clean carpet? Get a online quote above to see our pricing and service add-ons such as deep clean, sanitizer/deodorizer, pet treatment and stain protectant for an additional price.
  • How long will it take my carpet to dry? Steam cleaning is usually 8 to 24 hours, but our SaniVive® method provides a deeper cleaning while drying in only 2 to 6 hours.
  • Do you move furniture? Yes, but to ensure we don’t take the stretch out of your carpet, and to protect it from rust or varnish stains, we sell carpet coasters. Prices are available on our online quote page above. Note: Furniture shields carpet from most soils, so it’s usually best to have us clean around furniture.
  • I have pets – can you keep the door closed? No, while we cover your door with a tarp, we need the door ajar so we can run hose from our van into your home.
  • Can I walk on the carpet after it’s been cleaned? Yes, as long as your feet/shoes are clean and stain protectant was Not applied, you’re fine to walk on your carpet. We also provide shoe covers upon request.
  • Can I wear shoes on my carpet? Yes, we first recommend wearing clean socks, second, non-marking boat shoes. Learn more about what shoes should I wear on my carpet.
  • Should I apply stain removers to my stains before you arrive? No, most store bought stain removers contain too much soap, and most homeowners apply more than the recommended amount. This results in soap that will never come back out, so the spot will continually attract soils until the carpet is eventually replaced. We use soap-free cleaner to avoid rapid re-soiling.
  • My carpet has black lines along the baseboards. These are called filtration stains and they’re caused by your HVAC releasing carbon during the warm months. We charge per linear foot charge for filtration stain removal. Click the quote button for pricing.

  • Do you move furniture? Yes, to ensure we do not damage your wood floor, and to prevent injury, we sell special coasters to ensure safety first. Note: Furniture shields your wood floor from from soils, so cleaning around it is typically recommended.
  • Will your hardwood cleaning remove wax residue from wood polish? No: If you’ve cleaned your floor with anything containing acrylic wax, we would need to provide a wax removal service, which involves special chemicals dissolvers.
  • Can you clean with the door closed because I have a dog? No, while we cover your door with a tarp, we need the door ajar so we can run hose from our van into your home.
  • Why does my hardwood look dull and grey? While it could light refracting from tiny scratches, it is most likely either soap residue from not properly rinsing your floor after mopping, or acrylic wax build-up from floor cleaners that contain acrylic wax. If you use a cleaner that boasts of “shine”, “rejuvenate” or “polish” on the label, it is likely acrylic wax build up. This requires special cleaners to remove or a floor scrubber for severe cases.   • Can I wax my hardwood floor? While hardwood paste or wax restores the luster of your finish, it can cause irreversible damage by allowing the wax to absorb into the wood molecules. If ever refinished, this becomes a problem when sanding the floor as the heat allows the wax to keep coming out of the pores causing finishing issues.

  • How long does it take my upholstery to dry? We use an advanced upholstery cleaning tool that only allows us to clean 3/16″ deep, so the dry time is greatly reduced to approximately 4 to 8 hours.
  • Can you clean with the door closed so my pet won’t get out? Typically not, while we cover your door with a tarp, we need the door ajar so we can run hose from our van into your home. We can use a portable for a nominal fee if requested prior to service.
  • Can you clean furniture with down feathers? Yes, our upholstery cleaning tool is designed to clean only the surface of your fabric allowing for safe, fast dry time.
  • How do you charge to clean furniture? We charge by how many people can sit on your furniture instead of measurements. This allows us to give you an accurate quote online or over the phone.

Rug Cleaning FAQ

  • How long does it take my rug to dry? Depending the soil load and the fiber thickness, your fibers should dry within 12 to 24 hours after your in-home cleaning. Note: Wool can take up to 10 days to reach humidity levels equal to your home. For this reason, we advise not to replace furniture until then or place plastic tabs to eliminate furniture stains.
  • Can you clean my rug in my home or at your plant? We offer both options. In-home cleaning is topical, similar to carpet. In-plant cleaning offers a much deeper cleaning and more thorough results.

  • Are viscose rugs good quality? No, viscose is an inferior fiber that does not hold up to everyday wear and tear. Learn more about viscose fibers.
  • How long will you keep my rug? In-plant cleaning is thorough process that takes about 2 weeks to complete. After the cleaning, we recommend the rug is laid flat in an air-conditioned home for at least 10 days to ensure it reaches relative humidity. Wrapping it or storing it outdoors is not advisable and can cause permanent damage.
  • Do you offer pick up and delivery or do we need to drop it off? Yes, we offer full delivery and you may also handle delivery as well, by appointment only.

  • How long does it take my drapes to dry? Typical dry time is less than an hour.
  • Do I need to take my drapes down before you clean them? No, we clean your curtains in your home and on the rod. This provides better cleanability and dry time while saving you the hassle or taking them down.
  • How much do you charge to clean drapes? We charge by the panel in widths of four feet with pricing option of varying size: 1-6′, 7-8′ and 9-10′.
  • How high up can you clean drapery? Yes, we can clean drapery as high 20′ tall
  • Can you clean with the door closed because I have a dog? Yes, we use a small cleaning machine we bring into your home.

Stain Removal FAQ

  • Should I pre-treat the stain prior to your arrival? It’s best not to apply any cleaners, stain removers or detergents, but instead keep the stain moist until professional stain removal service arrives. This may require covering it with a plastic sheet.
  • What should I do if I just spilled red wine? Like any liquid spill on carpet, rugs or upholstery, you want to lay an absorbent towel over the spill and either apply pressure or set a heavy object on it to wick the spill into the towel. Keeping the spill moist is best until a professional stain removal service arrives.
  • What should I do if I just spilled latex paint on my carpet? Carefully remove as much paint as possible making sure to not spread it around. Spray soapy water on the area and cover with a plastic sheet making sure to not let the latex paint dry. We can remove wet latex paint, but not if it dries.
  • Can you remove dark traffic lanes from carpet? These stains are typically caused by any shoe, including house slippers, that have a soft, black sole: dress shoes, flip-flops, house slippers, boots, etc. These stains are difficult to remove and require more than just cleaning the carpet.

Pet Odor Removal FAQ

  • Do you guaranteed complete pet odor removal? No, the only way to remove pet urine odors completely it so replace the carpet, pad and hardwood/concrete subfloor. Our odor eliminator only mitigates the odors. While it could remove them completely, we make no guarantee for complete odor removal.
  • Is your pet odor remover safe for pets and kids? Ur-Out contains over 99% natural ingredients and is safe for pets and kids when used as instructed.
  • Can you remove all pet stains? Yes, we can remove urine, blood, vomit and feces stains. Bile however may require additional treatments and possible carpet patching.
  • How long does it take pet treatment to work? We use a cleaner that breaks down organic matter like Mother Nature; therefore, it requires time for the bacteria to eliminate the odor-causing agents. We estimate a significant drop in a few weeks while continually improving over time.
  • I still smell urine after someone cleaned my carpet! This is likely caused by polyester carpet. When you spot clean polyester carpet, we can no longer see the urine in under an Ultra Violet light. Untreated, subsurface urine can begin to off-gas more vigorously after the cleaning due to water absorption. We recommend our moisture meter instead of a UV light, though it is time consuming.
